All-rounder Josh Thomas has signed a new two-year deal with the club until the end of the 2028 season. The 21-year-old has played in 31 first-class and List A games for Somerset since his debut in 2022, scoring 700 runs. Thomas has featured in all four County Championship matches of the season so far, scoring 260 runs including a career best of 136 in the defeat by Yorkshire.
"Since making his first XI debut, we've seen a number of performances that have highlighted Josh's potential," said director of cricket Andy Hurry. "Those experiences have provided him with some really valuable learning opportunities, and we've seen him continue to grow as a professional, both on and off the field. " Thomas, who has also represented England at under-19 level, said: "It would be good to stay in the first team for as long as possible and hopefully I can get an opportunity in the Blast, but I'm trying to not look too far ahead.
"I worked really hard this winter, and I'm really pleased that that's paid off. " Teenager Rew extends Somerset deal until 2028 Long-serving Abell signs new Somerset contract Somerset head coach Kerr signs new deal
