New York Giants' Joe Schoen reveals development plans for Arvell Reese
New York Giants GM Joe Schoen offers insight into the development plans for rookie LB Arvell Reese, including Charlie Bullen's involvement.
The New York Giants selected superstar linebacker Arvell Reese with the fifth overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft last month. Reese has all the makings of a future star in the NFL. The linebacker flashed major potential across his three seasons at Ohio State.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and 243 pounds, Reese is expected to serve as the Giants' WILL linebacker throughout his rookie season, even after enjoying significant success as an edge rusher in college. Giants general manager Joe Schoen recently outlined New Yorkโs plans for Reeseโs development and said he expects outside linebacker coach Charlie Bullen to provide one-on-one attention to the rookie, with a focus on improving his pass-rush skills. "I'm sure there will be some one-on-one attention given to Arvell in terms of developing more pass rush and blitz stuff that heโll be doing for us," Schoen told Giants Huddle .
Reese recorded 112 total tackles, 13. 5 tackles for loss, and 7. 0 sacks across three seasons at Ohio State.
An excellent pass rusher despite the role not being his natural position, he will need to make adjustments as he transitions to the professional level during his 2026 rookie campaign. Reese will look to make an early impression at Giants rookie minicamp this weekend. Fans will have their first opportunity to see the former Buckeye in action from May 8-10.
