Former UCF signee flips commitment to Georgia basketball

Former UCF signee Donovan Williams could play a significant role in Athens next season following the departure of star guard Jeremiah Wilkinson.

Former UCF Knights guard Donovan Williams Jr. has flipped his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs, per Dawgs247 . Williams signed with the Knights in November, and the talented recruit will now look to shine in Georgiaโ€™s backcourt next season.

Williams originally committed to UCF in October prior to flipping his commitment to Georgia. At 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, Williams chose the Knights over Arizona State, Illinois, and USF, but the guard ultimately decided Georgia would be the best fit throughout his freshman campaign. Williams has flashed his potential on numerous occasions on the high school level, as the guard split the first two seasons of his high school career at both Edgewater High and The First Academy, followed by two years at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia.

Williams is ranked as the No. 25 guard and the No. 220 overall player from the class of 2026, per the 247Sports Rankings .

He is listed as the No. 30 player out of Florida, and Williams finds himself with an excellent opportunity to thrive in Athens next season following a plethora of key departures in Georgiaโ€™s backcourt. Williams had an extremely strong performance throughout the Nike EYBL circuit as well, where he averaged 17.
