Prep sports recap for May 6, 2026
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Dunlap remained hot and stayed in first place in the tight Mid-Illini baseball race on Wednesday. Eli Michanicou pitched five strong innings, striking out eight without a walk and allowing just a run as the Eagles won at Washington, 6-2.
Michanicou also had two hits and knocked in a run for Dunlap (22-4, 9-1). East Peoria and Metamora remain a game behind the Eagles. Dunlap has won 21 of its last 22 games.
Metamora won its tenth straight game by winning at Limestone, 6-3. Brady Jones had a pair of doubles and knocked in four runs for the Redbirds (19-4, 8-2). East Peoria’s Dalton Oakman scattered six hits and allowed only a run in the Raiders’ 5-1 over visiting Morton.
EP (16-8, 8-2) swept the two-game series and knocked Morton (17-8, 7-3) into third place. Morton edged Dunlap and Metamora to capture the Mid-Illini Conference girls track and field meet. The Potters scored 116 points, two better than the Eagles and redbirds, who shared second with 114 points.
