Madison Square Garden jeers Andre Drummond's failed efforts to dislodge ball, cheers hero Karl-Anthony Towns

By Jason OwensYahoo Sports

If you’re Andre Drummond, you can’t give Madison Square Garden this satisfaction. Tyrese Maxey couldn’t dislodge a basketball that got stuck behind the backboard during Wednesday’s Game 2 between the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks. So he handed the broom to Drummond, his 6-11 76ers teammate.

Surely Drummond could get the job done. But Drummond tried and also failed — repeatedly. Drummond poked at the basketball at least 11 times.

He got it to bounce from one side of the stanchion to the other, but somehow couldn’t retrieve it from its perch. MSG went crazy when KAT had to take over for Andre Drummond to recover the ball 💀 pic. twitter.

Towns got the ball free with one poke of the broom, much to the delight of the MSG crown, which erupted in cheers. Drummond had nowhere to hide at that point as he remained on the court to watch Towns shoot a free throw. Thankfully for Drummond, he got a reprieve on the bench for Towns’ second free throw.
