Penguins Have Trade Target To Consider In Kraken Young Center
The Penguins should keep an eye on Kraken forward Shane Wright this off-season.
After taking a big step in the right direction this season, the Pittsburgh Penguins should be open to adding to their roster this off-season. This is especially so if a player has the potential to benefit them in the long term. When looking at trade candidates around the NHL who could make sense for the Penguins, Shane Wright stands out as a very interesting option.
Wright has had trouble breaking out with the Kraken. Yet, with the former top prospect still being just 22 years old, the possibility of him hitting a new level with a change of scenery could be there. Therefore, he is exactly the kind of player who the Penguins should strongly consider taking a flier on if he is made available.
Wright had a tough 2025-26 season with the Kraken, as he recorded 12 goals and 27 points in 74 games. However, he also had 19 goals and 44 points in 79 games with Seattle in 2024-25, so he has already shown in the past that he can provide decent offensive production. Perhaps he could take another step forward if he joined a team like the Penguins.
Furthermore, with the Penguins getting older down the middle, it would make sense if they took a chance on a youngster like Wright. The potential for him to become a high-impact NHL player is there, and it will be interesting to see if Pittsburgh targets him because of it.
