Aaron Rodgers to Arizona Cardinals has 'no legs', says NFL insider

Ian Rapoport shut down any legitimacy to the possibility of Aaron Rodgers playing for the Arizona Cardinals in 2026.

The last couple of weeks, we have heard some noise about the Arizona Cardinals possibly targeting legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is currently a free agent and has not yet decided whether he will play in 2026. He played last season for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Steelers replaced head coach Mike Tomlin with Mike McCarthy, who coached the Green Bay Packers more many years while Rodgers was there. But the Cardinals have Nathaniel Hackett, who coached Rodgers previously, and Mike LaFleur, the younger brother of Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.

Plus, the Cardinals do not have a good quarterback room, and they have a contract dispute with incumbent starter Jacoby Brissett. There is noise and there are connections. Are there legs to this story?

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, appearing on the Pat McAfee Show , shut it all down. "No legs for that one. I do not expect him to sign with Arizona," he said.

"I expect, if he is going to play, to play for Pittsburgh. " Now, has anyone really believed that Rodgers might come to Arizona to play for the Cardinals? Not likely, but it certainly has been a fun topic of conversation for an uneventful time in the offseason.
