Mason girls golf team wins fifth straight state title

Mason girls golf’s Ainsley Burns capped her final high school golf tournament with her fourth Class 2A individual championship, while helping the team defend its state title on Tuesday. An Angelo State signee, Burns overcame a four-shot deficit with a final round of 66 to overtake first-day leader Alice Baird of Bogota Rivercrest. Cisco’s Jakelee Wood finished second, four strokes behind Burns, while Baird finished third.

They started the day with a one-shot lead over second-place Spearman and ended with a remarkable 55-shot victory to claim their fifth consecutive state title.
