Bayern Munich 1-1 PSG: Vincent Kompany’s men fail to reach Champions League final Paris Saint-Germain have reached the final of the Champions League after beating Bayern Munich 6-5 on aggregate at the Allianz Arena. After the first leg ended 5-4 in favour of PSG, Bayern managed a 1-1 draw against Luis Enrique’s side in the second leg, but it was not enough in the end. PSG, the defending champions, will now face Arsenal in the Champions League final in Budapest on 30th May.

Bayern Munich vs PSG: Match report PSG needed just three minutes to break the deadlock. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia burst down the left following a slick one-two, exploiting Bayern’s high defensive line before cutting the ball back into the area for Ousmane Dembele , who lashed an emphatic finish high into the net. In doing so, Kvaratskhelia became the first player to register either a goal or assist in seven consecutive knockout-stage appearances within a single Champions League campaign.

PSG continued to threaten, with Kvaratskhelia again causing problems in the 21st minute as he cut inside and fired a deflected effort comfortably gathered by Manuel Neuer. Bayern gradually settled into the contest and began to carve out openings of their own. Michael Olise skipped past Nuno Mendes before curling narrowly over, while a nervy moment arrived for PSG when Vitinha blasted a clearance against team-mate Joao Neves’ arm inside the area, though no penalty was awarded.

Neuer then produced one of several crucial saves, tipping Neves’ glancing header around the post after a dangerous free-kick delivery. Jamal Musiala responded at the other end with a driving run through midfield before forcing a low save from Matvey Safonov. Bayern came agonisingly close to levelling before half-time when Jonathan Tah found himself completely unmarked inside the area but headed wide from close range.

PSG regained momentum after the interval, with Desire Doue testing Neuer after a surging run before Kvaratskhelia was denied by the goalkeeper’s outstretched feet moments later. Doue continued to torment Bayern’s defence and again forced a sharp stop from the veteran German keeper with a powerful low strike. Bayern’s substitutes nearly changed the complexion of the match.
