'They really wanted me the most.' Lawrence North's Izayveon Moore makes college choice
Lawrence North senior Izayveon Moore made his college choice on Wednesday, picking a school from Mid-American Conference program.
There are times when Izayveon Moore carries the football when it appears he does not even know which direction he is headed next, let alone the defenders he leaves in the dust. But Moore, one of the state’s most electrifying high school football players, knows exactly where he wants to go to college. The 5-8, 180-pound Lawrence North junior committed to Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday, selecting the RedHawks over other Mid-American Conference offers from Eastern Michigan, Ohio and Toledo.
“They brought me up for a visit and I was there all day and had a meeting with most of the offensive staff,” Moore said of his commitment to Miami. “I felt like the coaches there really wanted me the most, so I thought I should go ahead and make a decision. ” Moore is one of the most accomplished players in the 2027 class in Indiana.
He ran for 1,587 yards and 30 touchdowns as a junior, his third consecutive 1,000-yard season. For his high school career, Moore has 4,083 yards and 61 rushing TDs, along with 18 receptions for 376 yards and five TDs. Chuck Martin, in his 12 th season as Miami’s coach, has dipped into Indiana often in recruiting.
The RedHawks, coming off a 7-7 season, had a couple of former in-state products at quarterback last season in Henry Hesson (Avon) and Thomas Gotkowski (Ben Davis), along with former Decatur Central standout Kenny Tracy at running back. Tracy’s brother Javon was also a standout for the RedHawks before transferring to Minnesota for his final season. Two of his former Lawrence North teammates, Jerome Smith and Anthony Ludington, are also on the team.
