NFL Insider Addresses Latest Arizona Cardinals Rumors

Yahoo Sports

While things could certainly change, the Arizona Cardinals are set to enter training camp with low expectations. No one will be predicting them to reach the playoffs in a crowded NFC West divisional field in Mike LaFleur’s first season as head coach. It also doesn’t help that the Cardinals do not have an obvious starting quarterback on the roster.

For now, the expectation is that veteran journeyman Jacoby Brissett will assume starting duties. But he’s on bad terms with the Cardinals after skipping minicamp in search of a raise. Behind Brissett, the Cardinals have free agent signee Gardner Minshew and third-round rookie Carson Beck.

Yet, recent rumors have linked the Cardinals to another free agent quarterback, though one who is much more accomplished. However, Cardinals fans shouldn’t get their hopes up too high. According to ESPN’s Cardinals insider Josh Weinfuss , there is no truth, “not at all,” to the rumors of Aaron Rodgers potentially eyeing a contract to play in Arizona.

Thus, the Cardinals do appear set with their QB room. Meanwhile, for Rodgers, the options appear to be either to play another season with the Pittsburgh Steelers or to enjoy retirement. Even though he’s taking his sweet time, everyone expects him to play another season, but it won’t be with the Cardinals.
