Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic is progressing in his recovery from a Grade 2 left hamstring injury, but it might not come soon enough. Doncic said he’s begun running again, but he hasn’t been cleared for full contact, as reported by Dan Woike of The Athletic . There’s both good and bad news in there, but the real kicker was the timeline Doncic provided.

With his injury occurring on April 2, that means his return would come in late May. Coincidentally, Doncic’s injury came against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team now facing the Lakers in the second round of the NBA playoffs.

With him not even being cleared for contact yet, though, those odds seem very slim.
Game 2 will mark five weeks since he was hurt. Even his trip to Europe for stem cell therapy doesn’t appear to significantly shorten that time. “I’m doing everything I can in the process, and I think we’re on a good way,” he said.
