I have not seen one with a player not at one of those two spots.

That continues today as CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson sees the Chargers reinforcing their secondary by selecting Georgia cornerback Ellis Robinson IV with the 28th-overall pick, a breakout candidate from the 2025 season who looks to be on the cusp of playing his way into the first round with another strong year for the Bulldogs in 2026. “ Robinson is a physical corner who excels at reading the QB and being consistently disruptive at the catch point,” says Wilson. ‘‘He plays with the confidence and technical traits to thrive on an island, whether in man or off-coverage.

“ Robinson played very little as a freshman in 2024. He saw time in just four games and totaled three tackles before utilizing his redshirt. The 6’0, 180-pounder then earned a starting role in ‘25, beginning 12 games while playing in 14 total contests.

He recorded four interceptions and seven pass breakups en route to earning Second-Team All-SEC honors and being named the FWAA Freshman Defensive Player of the Year. Especially after finishing second in the SEC in catch rate allowed, Robinson will have all the expectations in the world to be arguably the top cornerback in the conference next year. That may end up putting him out of the Chargers’ reach in the draft if they end up picking 28th as they do here, but crazier things have happened, regardless.

Lowest catch rate allowed, SEC CBs in 2025: Kelley Jones, Mississippi State: 28. 9% Ellis Robinson IV, Georgia: 36. 7% Mansoor Delane, LSU: 37.
