UNC Women's Lacrosse standout up for prestigious award

An UNC women’s lacrosse standout is a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award for the second straight season.

North Carolina attacker Chloe Humphrey has been named one of five finalists for the Tewaaraton Award for the second straight year, giving her a chance to win the prestigious honor in consecutive seasons, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced Tuesday. The Tewaaraton Award, considered the preeminent honor in college lacrosse, is presented annually to the top male and female players in the United States. Selection committees made up of leading college coaches are appointed each year by the Tewaaraton Foundation.

Humphrey, who won both the Tewaaraton and the Honda Sport Award for lacrosse last season, is in the midst of another outstanding year. She leads the nation in goals, with 92, and points, with 133, and her 41 assists are tied for 20th nationally. The ACC attacker of the year, Humphrey also earned first-team All-ACC and ACC tournament MVP honors while helping North Carolina capture both the ACC regular-season and tournament titles.
