New Orleans Saints Welcome Familiar Defensive Coordinator
Woods, a former member of the Los Angeles Chargers, is set to try out during rookie minicamp with the New Orleans Saints. Known for his size and athleticism, he runs a 4.36-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and brings intriguing physical traits to the Saints' defense.
The New Orleans Saints are bringing in a familiar face for defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, as former third-round pick JT Woods is set to try out during rookie minicamp this weekend per KPRC2's Aaron Wilson. Known for his size and athleticism, Woods stands at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, and ran a 4. 36-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
The Saints' emphasis on adding speed to both sides of the ball this offseason makes him an intriguing addition for their secondary. While he may be on the outside looking in, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Woods stick around given his familiarity with Staley, who originally drafted him. Woods spent time with several teams including the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks, Las Vegas Raiders, and the New York Jets before trying out for the Cleveland Browns just a few weeks ago.
The Saints' new acquisition brings in other former players he knows well like safety Terrell Burgess, plus defensive linemen Jonah Williams and Chris Rumph II. This article originally appeared on Saints Wire: NFL News: Saints invite former Chargers safety JT Woods for tryouts.
