Boston had a five-run third inning, which Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story shows exactly what Boston’s offense is supposed to be. Story knows the Red Sox’s offense is built to put the ball in play and move the line, but he believes, as of late, the team is getting the big hits through the home run, or extra bases, which has been key. “Yeah, I think moving the line, putting the ball in play, going first to third, running the bases well,” Story said postgame on Tuesday.

“I think that's kind of the offense we've been constructed to be. Making plays on the basepaths and putting pressure on the defense. The difference is we've been coming up with a big hit, too, with runners in scoring position.

” In the Red Sox’s win, Story went 1-for-4 and scored twice. Ceddanne Rafaela got the Red Sox’s offense going with a three-run home run in the first inning, and he agrees with Story that the team is starting to put together better at-bats. “We’re putting at-bats together as a team,” Rafaela said.
