Tyler Onyedim reunites with 'big brother' Eyioma Uwazurike in the NFL
"That’s my dog," Onyedim said of Uwazurike. "He’s going to be in my wedding; I’m going to be in his wedding. That’s my brother.
Before spending the fifth and final year of his college career at Texas A&M, new Denver Broncos defensive lineman Tyler Onyedim played at Iowa State from 2021-2024. While playing for the Cyclones, Onyedim overlapped with Broncos defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike in 2021. That was Onyedim's first year of college football and Uwazurike's final year before entering the NFL draft.
Before being drafted by Denver, Onyedim spoke with the team's defensive line coach, Jamar Cain. "He said he really liked my play [and] he really liked the player I was," Onyedim said. "I feel like my contact went really, really good.
I love the defensive line. I love my boy ‘Enyi,' I told him all that, and he knew what it is. I used to go to Iowa State, so I played with ‘Enyi’ my first year.
I’m excited to be with my dog. I talked to the defensive line coach, and we talked about everything and all that. ” Onyedim's competition for playing time at defensive end will include Uwazurike, but they're friends first.
