Washington baseball falls 4-3 to Seattle University
The Washington Huskies couldn't overcome an early deficit in a 4-3 loss to Seattle University on Tuesday.
In a story that has become all too familiar for the Washington Huskies this season, coach Eddie Smith's team fell behind early and couldn't recover in a 4-3 loss to Seattle University. The Redhawks plated all four of their runs in the top of the first inning behind a run-scoring single from designated hitter Royce Hale, a double from left fielder Ryder Manale, and a two-run single from first baseman Tyler Jackson, which was just enough as they put together 11 hits on the day. The Huskies responded with three runs in the top of the second behind an RBI groundout from right fielder Ian Draper and a sacrifice fly from Kevin Spear, before left fielder Jackson Hotchkiss blasted a solo shot for his 17th home run of the season.

Smith turned to four other pitchers on the day, as they racked up 7 strikeouts and demonstrated good control, allowing just 1 walk.
After Jake Morrell got the start for Seattle U and allowed 3 runs on 3 hits with 2 strikeouts over 2 innings, Isaac Hallam let up just a hit and a walk with 4 strikeouts over the next 3 frames to earn the win and improve to 2-3 on the year. With the loss, the Huskies slipped to 21-27 on the season.
