PGA Tour pro withdraws from second straight signature event due to injury
Jake Knapp, who has been battling a thumb injury, withdrew from his second straight event, the Truist Championship, this week.
For the second straight week, Jake Knapp has withdrawn from a PGA Tour event. Knapp, 31, withdrew Tuesday evening from this week's Truist Championship in Charlotte at Quail Hollow Club. The former UCLA golfer and two-time Tour winner pulled out of the Cadillac Championship last week shortly before his first round tee time on Thursday, citing a sprained left thumb.
That makes two no-cut, signature events that Knapp has been forced to skip due to a lingering injury. Austin Smotherman, 31, who originally was in the field at this week's opposite field event, the OneFlight Myrtle Beach Classic in Myrtle Beach, S. C.
, will take his place. Knapp has made eight of nine cuts and notched five top 10s. He's ranked No.
