The Blues mathematically can’t finish in the top five, and their only chance of Champions League football is a sixth placed finish if Aston Villa finish fifth and win the Europa League. Chelsea stars could lose £40,000 per week with no Champions League It’s well documented that since the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital takeover back in 2022 that Chelsea offer heavily incentivised contracts. Wages for example would increase through Champions League qualification, whilst there would be bonuses for winning trophies. However, the opposite is also true, with wages reducing through a lack of on pitch success, and The Sun have reported failure to qualify for the Champions League would see clauses activated that would reduce player wages. The report adds wages could be reduced by between £30,000 and £40,000 per week, which is a significant amount.
