To date, we had heard that Bayern Munich had spoken to Gordon’s representative, but Hope says that the Bavarians and Newcastle have had preliminary talks: Contact has now been made between Bayern and Newcastle over Anthony Gordon, albeit at an exploratory stage.

Newcastle are also aware of what would appeal to Gordon this summer, and that definitely includes Bayern. If true, this is a good sign, but guarantees nothing. Any negotiations figure to be long, drawn out, and expensive for Bayern Munich.

Even with that, it shows some real ambition for the Bavarians to get going so early in attempting to get Gordon. Liverpool, Arsenal, and FC Barcelona are all rumored to want Gordon as well.
