Belletti’s side narrowly missed out on a promotion play-off place during a campaign where they were beset by injuries to key players and also saw several players regularly called up to the first team.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have “no doubts” about Belletti’s future and want him to stay on as manager of Barca Atletic. Belletti spoke about his future after his team’s final game of the season and also took time out to praise his players. “That’s a matter for the board.
My job is to bring the players into the reality of competitive football,” he said. “This is how I can continue as a coach, working to better prepare them for the first team. The good thing is that Flick likes young players who understand the context,” he explained.
“We had to demand too much from the youngsters; I talked about protecting them, and yet they’ve shown something different, especially in their character. ” Barcelona Atletic will aim for promotion again next season but may lose players such as Xavi Espart and Tommy Marques to the first team . Yet Belletti will still have plenty of exciting talent to call upon, with players such as Ibrahim Diarra, Toni Fernandez and Ebrima Tunkara around.
