It was Brayan Bello's turn in the struggling Red Sox rotation, but Tracy knew a shakeup was needed for the 26-year-old starting pitcher who has a 9. 12 ERA through his first six starts. Tracy elected to use an opener in Bello's start, giving the ball to relief pitcher Jovani Moran with hopes of getting through the top of the order unscathed.

It looked like Tracy's decision was going to backfire after Moran allowed three hits and two earned runs in a nearly 40-pitch first inning. But once Bello finally took the mound in the second inning, it was game over. He retired the side in seven pitches.

He struck out two in the third and two more in the fourth while receiving support in the form of ten runs from his offense. The Tigers were finally able to get to him in the fifth, plating one run on three hits. But it was more of the same in the sixth and seventh as he faced the minimum in each frame.
