Binghamton Softball preps for America East Tournament with multiple All-Conference Selections
VESTAL, N. Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Binghamton Bearcats softball team is officially at the University of Maine to compete in the America East tournament.
The Bearcats enter as the #2 seed, only behind Bryant, and will take on the host Black Bears in their opening game on Wednesday. They will open up their run to look to make it back-to-back titles at 1:30 pm. The tournament is different this season with the forfeit of UMBC, so with a win, they would advance to play on Thursday at 1:30 pm again, and with a loss, they would play at 11 am.
It is a double-elimination tournament, with the championship to be played on Saturday, beginning at noon. Multiple players have earned the highest honors in the conference. Third baseman Rachel Carey has been named the 2026 America East Softball Player of the Year.
The Bearcats have now posted the conference’s Player of the Year five times. The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon by the conference office, which also unveiled its all-conference teams. Carey was joined on the first team by catcher Elisa Allen, utility player Emma Lawson, and outfielder Darien McDonough.
Pitcher Olivia Kennedy represented the Bearcats on the second team, while designated player Lauren Payne was chosen to the All-Rookie Team. Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
