Matt Fitzpatrick ‘shocked’ by the course conditions at Quail Hollow ahead of the Truist Championship

Fitzpatrick has been one of the standout players on the PGA Tour this season, with three wins to his name already. And the Englishman is one of the favorites to win the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow this week.
However, Matt Fitzpatrick ‘s best finish at Quail Hollow in a PGA Tour event was a tie for 35th in 2023. That said, the 32-year-old Englishman did finish in a tie for eighth in the PGA Championship last year and he is a completely different player now. He has grown as a competitor and his iron play is far superior now to what it was a few years ago.

His game is definitely conducive to contending once again this week in North Carolina. The Englishman responded when asked to give his verdict on the conditions at Quail Hollow with just two days remaining until the tournament begins. “ Yeah, I feel like it’s obviously different this week compared to the PGA last year,” Fitzpatrick admitted. “ I think with the weather we had last year for the PGA the greens were a little bit softer, the rough was a little bit higher.
