The Los Angeles Lakers are heavy underdogs in their series opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night.

A big part of the problem as the playoffs reach the Western Conference semifinals is this: Luka Doncic still isn't playing. LeBron James is great, and Austin Reaves and the rest of the supporting cast are solid. But the Thunder are a different beast, the defending champions led by reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Doncic remains out due to injury as the Lakers-Thunder series begins. He continues to recover from a Grade 2 hamstring strain that has kept Doncic out for about a month. The Lakers advanced past the Houston Rockets in the first round without Doncic on the floor.
