Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images, The Patriot Ledger, The last two number one overall picks in the WNBA, Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, are teammates on the Dallas Wings. It’s not the two guards’ first time serving as teammates; however, they also played together with the UConn Huskies, winning the 2025 national championship.

Heading into the 2026 season, there has been speculation on how their personal dynamic (the two went public with a romantic relationship in 2025) will affect things on the floor. At Dallas’ media day, Bueckers addressed the topic and made it clear she didn’t intend to do so again. “Quite frankly, I believe me and Azzi’s personal relationship is nobody’s business but our own.

And what we choose to share is completely up to us,” Bueckers said. “We’ve never let anything that happens off the court carry onto the court, and that’s what we’ll continue to do. ” Recently, their head coach from their collegiate days, Geno Auriemma, gave his take on the situation, and he is making it clear he supports his two former players and their right to keep their personal lives private.

“They’re two great people who have come through our program and done amazing things while they’re here and whatever else they do that’s a personal matter for them” Geno on Paige and Azzi pic. twitter. com/3ysHxt14B4 — ivy (@535pbaz) May 4, 2026 “You know, I think Paige had the best quote out of all of them.

‘What I do in my personal life is my business and nobody else’s business. ’ And I believe that. And as far as I’m concerned, they are two great people who have come through our program and done amazing things while they’re here.
