PGA Championship 2026: Max Homa replaces Phil Mickelson at Aronimink; Tiger Woods officially out
As was the case last month at the Masters, neither Tiger Woods nor Phil Mickelson will play in the PGA Championship next week
The PGA of America announced Tuesday that six-time major champion Phil Mickelson will not play in the PGA Championship next week at Aronimink due to a “personal health matter with this family. ” The two-time PGA champion has only played in one of LIV Golf’s six events this year and did not compete in the Masters last month. He is not playing in LIV Golf's event this week in Washington, D.
C. Mickelson will be replaced by Max Homa, who was sitting in the first alternate spot the last couple days. Homa tied for ninth place last month at the Masters.
"I just want to be really sensitive," LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil said Tuesday at Trump National. "We all have things going on in our lives that are personal, and his is. I have a lot of love and respect for him as a human being and certainly have respect for him as what he's accomplished in his career, and his presence is really helpful.
So I hope he comes back soon. " An updated field for the PGA Championship was released by the PGA of America Tuesday with 154 names on the list , two spots remaining for the winners of the PGA Tour’s Truist Championship and Myrtle Beach Classic events this week. Tiger Woods’ name was not on that list, as was expected.
