Raiders free agent addition scoops up Tyree Wilson's number following trade
Tyree Wilson's number came available after his trade on draft day and it has been snatched up by one of the Raiders big free agent additions.
Back in March when the Raiders signed Jalen Nailor to a free agent contract, he was given number 83. It was same number he wore when he joined the NFL with the Vikings as a Round six pick in 2022. He wore that number for his first three seasons.
But in the third of those seasons, he began establishing himself as a starter and had a chance to change to a single digit number, and took it, switching to the number one. That number was not available when Nailor first arrived, because fellow wideout Tre Tucker already claimed it and he wasn't giving it up. Nailor settled for 83 but his switch from it to a single digit didn't take three seasons this time.
It took less than two months. On draft day the Raiders traded away former seventh overall pick Tyree Wilson to the New Orleans Saints. And with his exit, the number nine came available and Nailor snagged it like a bullet pass right at his facemask.
The Michigan State product wore number eight for the Spartans, so it's clearly something he prefers. QB Kirk Cousins wears the number eight just as he had for two previous NFL stops. Nailor becomes the third Raiders receiver to wear a single digit number along with Tre Tucker (one) and Shedrick Jackson (four).
