Yoel Romero promises a path of destruction as he begins to close out his career in combat sports.

MIAMI – Yoel Romero might just go on one of the scariest retirement tours in combat sports. Despite being 49 years old, Romero still remains one of the most explosive and ferocious athletes in the fight game. The Cuban standout wrestler plans to retire at 52 – the same age legendary boxer, and one of Romero's heroes, Bernard Hopkins hung up the gloves.

Romero sees the light at the end of the tunnel for his fighting career, and he wants to make it a memorable one. "I am ready for everyone. I'm ready for them all," Romero told Hablemos MMA following his debut win at Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA.

"The Olympic cycle is four years, and I have three left. This is the first year of four. I'm giving it my all and preparing myself way better.

If before I prepared well, now it carries an extra, so I can get to my Olympic games – which is to fight until I get to 52. You guys will see, and you guys will be amazed. Listen, I'm talking about important things.
