The Marlins signed Paddack to a one-year ($4 million) contract in the offseason after trading away right-hander Edward Cabrera to the Chicago Cubs . In seven games (six starts) with the Marlins, the 30-year-old went 0-5 with a 7. 63 ERA and allowed a major league-leading 26 earned runs.
Chris Paddack has not been good in his career Throughout his eight years in the big leagues, Paddack has not been a great pitcher, with a 4. 79 career ERA. A former eighth-round pick of the Marlins in the 2015 MLB Draft, Paddack was shipped out west to the San Diego Padres a year later (2016) in a trade for right-handed closer Fernando Rodney.
