Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty Images Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Fulham at the weekend was a significant one for the Premier League title race, not only earning the Gunners three points, but also putting them a couple of extra goals ahead of Manchester City. Bukayo Saka and Viktor Gyokeres were undoubtedly the stars of the first-half performance that put the Gunners 3-0 up, so perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that both were selected for WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Week.
Saka received a rating of 8. 64, thanks largely to his goal and assist, whilst Gyokeres’ two goals and an assist helped him to an 8. 74 rating with the stat website.
WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Week for Gameweek 35 Saka’s inclusion despite only playing 45 minutes is impressive, but it was also well-earned. The winger created four chances including two big chances, he scored from one of just two shots he had in the half, and he was a constant threat on his return to the starting lineup. Yet it was only Gyokeres who made it into Troy Deeney’s BBC Team of the Week, with the striker explaining: “Two goals and an assist against Fulham, in the season where people are asking him to do more, including myself.
You have to give him credit – 21 goals in all competitions, fair play to him. ” The BBC’s Premier League Team of the Week for Gameweek 35 Deeney suggested he was also close to including Mikel Arteta as his manager of the week, but he ultimately opted for Vitor Pereira after the Nottingham Forest manager pulled off a 3-1 win away to Chelsea.
