This week's Male Athlete of the Week candidates include standouts in baseball, lacrosse, track & field and volleyball.
Archbishop Williams High's Nathan Killion has been voted the South Shore High School Male Athlete of the Week . Killion received more than 26,000 votes to earn the honor. He hit a 3-run home run as part of a 5-RBI day to lead the Bishops to an 11-4 win over Boston Latin School.
He also had 3 hits in a 9-2 loss to Sharon. And this week's candidates are ... The poll The candidates Jake Basan, Quincy boys volleyball Basan, a senior libero, had a team-high 18 digs as the Presidents beat city rival North Quincy, 3-1, for the first time since 2021, ending an 8-match losing streak in the series.
Ben Doak, Milton baseball In a pair of wins over Newton North (by 10-3 score) and Bridgewater-Raynham (11-4), Doak was a combined 7-for-9 with a double, 4 runs and 3 RBIs. Tim Donovan, Cohasset boys lacrosse Donovan scored 8 goals in a 14-13 win over Norwell. Brian Flynn, Norwell baseball Flynn struck out 13 in a complete-game 1-hitter and did not allow an earned run in a 6-1 win over Abington.
Sam Horwitz, Norwell baseball Horwitz pitched a complete-game 2-hitter with 10 strikeouts and 1 earned run allowed in a 9-2 victory over Carver. Mikey Kostek, Scituate baseball Kostek threw a perfect game with 11 strikeouts in a 3-0 win over Whitman-Hanson. Liam O'Keefe, Silver Lake baseball O'Keefe threw a 3-hit shutout with 9 strikeouts and was 3-for-4 at the plate in an 11-0 win over Whitman-Hanson.
