Bayern and PSG in Dispute Over Unlikely Issue Before Champions League Game

Yahoo Sports

A bizarre dispute emerged between Bayern Munich and PSG just before their UEFA Champions League semifinal decider. The issue: hotel accommodations.

In the lead-up to the return leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal between Bayern and PSG , an unexpected dispute between the two clubs came to light. A curious topic, to say the least, about the teams' accommodations in Munich. While awaiting another great battle on the field on Wednesday night, Bayern Munich and PSG argued over the hotel where they will spend their final hours before their semifinal return leg.

And the Germans did not want to do any favors for the Parisians. Last Friday, on the eve of their 3-3 draw against Heidenheim in the Bundesliga, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany had marked his territory ahead of the Champions League semifinal return leg against PSG . PSG will arrive on Tuesday, on the eve of the match, and would have liked to return to the Infinity Hotel & Conference Resort, where they stayed last May during their Champions League final victory against Inter Milan (5-0).

Problem: It is also the hotel where Bayern has been staying before matches since 2010. "It is our city, it is our home match, so there is nothing to negotiate," the Bavarian sporting director Christoph Freund warned last Friday in a press conference, in comments reported by L'Equipe. This four-star establishment has the advantage of being located north of Munich, in a fairly quiet area, about 15 minutes from the Allianz Arena and the airport.

With Bayern being unwilling to give up its hotel, which is quite logical, PSG could have returned to the Hilton Hotel in Tucherpark, where they stayed in March 2023, but that establishment is undergoing renovation and is therefore unavailable, according to Bild. In November 2024, the Parisians slept in the most prestigious and expensive five-star hotel in Munich: the Rosewood. But according to the cited outlet, PSG will this time stay at the Andaz Hotel (also a five-star), located a bit more in the city center than the Infinity, but also very well located as it is close to the A9 highway leading to the Allianz Arena (it takes about 10 minutes between the two).
