The Chiefs signed this Missouri Tigers WR on Monday, May 4 after his impressive tryout at Kansas City's rookie camp over the weekend.
The Kansas City Chiefs made a bold move on Monday by signing former Missouri Tigers wide receiver Xavier Loyd after his impressive tryout at the team's rookie camp over the weekend. Before joining the Tigers last year, Loyd played for two seasons at Kansas State Wildcat and spent the 2024 season with the Illinois State Redbirds. Loyd only tallied a total of three receptions in three seasons of FBS football, but he made a great impression on the Chiefs' coaching staff during his tryout period and is now set to compete for a place on Kansas City's 53-man roster.
Chiefs Senior Team Reporter Matt McMullen reported Loyd's signing with Kansas City in a post to his official Twitter account: The Chiefs signed three tryout players following rookie camp: WR Xavier Loyd DB Marlen Sewell OT Kahlil Benson ā Matt McMullen (@KCChiefs_Matt) May 4, 2026 While Loyd will face major headwinds in his effort to crack the Chiefs' final roster out of training camp, Mizzou fans in Western Missouri can look forward to seeing the former Tigers wideout in action during the preseason.
