Per the Transactions section of the team’s official website, Kansas City signed two of their draft picks at the same time they officially signed 20 rookie free agents on Friday .
One of their fifth round selections, wide receiver Cyrus Allen, was also reported to have signed. This also true for quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, whom the Chiefs took near the end of the seventh round. The Chiefs are currently estimated to have less than $7 million in salary cap space.
They will need to do some accounting work to be able to fit their entire class — with a pair of pricey first round selections under the limit. Per Spotrac , Allen is expected to receive a four-year contract worth $4. 6 million with a 2026 cap charge of about $980,000.
Nussmeier’s estimated $4. 4 million contract’s initial cap hit will only be about $915,000. For the offseason, only a team’s 51 highest numbers will count on the rolling salary cap.
