The high-profile former Vanderbilt QB who is now trying to win a roster spot with the Baltimore Ravens was already competing for just one spot with another quarterback. Now, he's battling two. The Ravens signed veteran journeyman Skylar Thompson on Monday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport .
Thompson isn't a starting-level QB at this point, but he's got the mobility that should allow him to learn the Ravens' offense and fit in if ever called upon. Lamar Jackson is the starter, of course.
Tyler Huntley is locked in as Jackson's backup. That leaves the QB3 role, and potentially a practice squad spot, up for grabs. Thompson now will have a legitimate chance at the third quarterback role, and he likely wouldn't have signed with Baltimore if he didn't believe that.
