Like father, like son: Duece Jones-Drew commits to UCLA
Duece Jones-Drew is heading to the same campus where his father starred.
The apple, or in this case, the football, has not fallen far from the tree. Former UCLA star running back Maurice Jones-Drew now has an excellent reason to return to campus often, as his son has committed to the Bruins. Duece Jones-Drew, class of 2027, is a short, stout ballcarrier, just like his father was.
The De La Salle back was considering Arizona and Cal before ultimately committing to his dad's alma mater. SMU and Utah were also in the mix for the running back. Maurice Jones-Drew was an All-American rusher and punt returner for UCLA from 2003 to 2005, before embarking on a nine-year NFL career.
