Rumour Mongering: Juventus to Spend “Significant Resources” on Alisson
Transfer chatter linking Liverpool’s Brazilian goalkeeper with a move to Juventus isn’t going away.
Liverpool slump towards the end of the 2025-26 season without a tactical identity, with last season’s title winners having been trending in the wrong direction going back more than a year. Their press is degraded, their passing less sharp, their finishing running cold, their defence disorganized and prone to individual errors, and their fitness concerning. What’s worse is there are few if any promising signs to hold on to.
Signals that just maybe with a summer re-set and a few new signings they could be back on track next season. They appear a team teetering on the edge of the wilderness just a few years removed from being one of football’s dominant forces—and what little is left of those past sides is being lost. Stalwarts and legends Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson have already confirmed their departures.
And there has been growing chatter goalkeeper Alisson Becker could leave, too. The latest this week via Sky Sports claims sources in Italy are telling them Juventus have Alisson as top goalkeeping target and will commit “significant resources” to his signing. Alisson had been set to be out of contract with the reds this summer but the club triggered an optional extension earlier in the year.
At the time, there had been some question over whether it signalled an intent to hold on to the 33-year-old Brazilian number one for another season or if it was simply intended to ensure the club could get a fee from his sale. With what’s left of the old core of the Jürgen Klopp era nearing the end of their careers, at least at the highest level, some turnover is perhaps inevitable, sad as it is. The concerning thing for Liverpool fans, though, will be looking at the current side and not seeing signs of what’s meant to come next and who will set the standards for the group moving forward.
