Calum McFarlane is taking charge of his first game at Stamford Bridge, and while most of the team is as we predicted, there is one really interesting change.
The team is largely the same as the one that faced Leeds last week – in fact, it’s exactly the same, with one change. Teenage winger Jesse Derry, someone McFarlane knows well from his time as a youth coach, has come into the first XI with Pedro Neto out of the squad entirely. Alejandro Garnacho is also not in the squad – we’re not sure what’s gone with them, but we can only assume it’s two injuries.
But regardless of it being enforced on McFarlane, this is the sort of decision that can give the home crowd a big boost. They’re looking for things to get excited about, and an academy kid making his debut is certainly something to cling onto. In other news… Chelsea’s squad has major issues in terms of the type of players bought – but also in terms of their character.
