Rarely does it happen simply by catching the baseball, but that's what happened to New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice on Sunday. Rice was holding a runner on at first base, and Max Fried threw a pickoff that way. The throw was a bit low, and Rice reached down to snag it.

The ball apparently hit Rice's glove, and the hand within it, in an odd way. Initially, Rice stayed in the game. He hit a double in the bottom half of the inning.

But then the Yankees removed him from action. They called it a left hand contusion. According to MLB.
