Every club qualified for next season's Champions League as Manchester United confirm league-phase berth Manchester United have secured their place in next season's Champions League after beating Liverpool at the weekend. Kobbie Mainoo's winner secured the Red Devils a 3-2 win at Old Trafford, a result that guarantees a top-five finish in the Premier League. As a result, United will return to the Champions League after a two-season absence with big European nights awaiting next season.
Michael Carrick's side have become the 12th team to rubber-stamp their place in the 2026/27 league phase. United are the third English team guaranteed a place in the competition, alongside Arsenal and Manchester City . The Premier League has been allocated an additional place due to UEFA co-efficient rankings, with Liverpool and Aston Villa currently occupying those positions.
However, a sixth English team could qualify if either Aston Villa or Nottingham Forest win the Europa League. Across Europe, nine other teams have also secured Champions League football. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have both secured top-four finishes in Germany, while Barcelona , Real Madrid and Villarreal have secured Champions League qualification in Spain.
Italy's Inter Milan , Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain , Eredivisie winners PSV Eindhoven, and newly-crowned Portuguese champions Porto have also booked spots in the competition. The 2026/27 Champions League will see 36 teams compete in the league phase, with 29 of those spots automatically secured before the end of the campaign. A further seven teams will battle it out in qualifiers during the early months of next season.
