Hoppel returned to Lawrence to compete in the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger Events as part of the Rock Chalk Classic. He took gold in the 2024 World Indoor Championships in the 800 meters and set an American record in the event at the 2024 Summer Olympics with a time of 1:41.
