No. 20 UT Tyler Softball sweeps Texas A&M International on Senior Day
TYLER, Texas (KETK) — The 20th-ranked UT Tyler Patriots softball team wrapped up the 2026 regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Texas A&M International on Senior Day at Irwin Field. In game one, the Pats fell behind 1-0 early before scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth and five in the bottom of the sixth to take down the Dustdevils 8-2. Then, in game two, UT Tyler held off the Dustdevils 8-6 to complete the doubleheader sweep and finish the regular season 41-11 overall and 33-7 in Lone Star Conference play.
UT Tyler seniors Taryn Barney and Berlyn Grossman were recognized before game one and received their degrees. UT Tyler assistant coach Abbie Behe, who played for the Patriots softball team, was also recognized for earning her master’s degree. The Pats picked up momentum heading into next week’s Lone Star Conference tournament which is set for May 6-9 at Schaeffer Park in Canyon, Texas.
