How Atlanta Braves' Spencer Strider Pitched in Season Debut

Spencer Strider made his 2026 season debut on Sunday.

The Atlanta Braves  have dealt with no shortage of injury concerns early in the 2026 MLB season. Pitching has been especially hit hard by the injury bug. On Sunday, they got one of their starting pitchers back, as Spencer Strider made his season debut.

He had previously been battling an oblique injury. It was a difficult outing for a season debut, as he made the start at Coors Field in Colorado -- which is known as a hitter's ball park and an extremely difficult place to pitch. Atlanta earned an 11-6 win in the game.

Strider had an up and down performance. He was able to limit the Rockies to only three runs across 3. 1 innings of work while striking out six hitters, but the right-handed hurler also surrendered five walks.

Strider gave up one home run and four total hits as well. While it was far from a dominant performance, it was a fairly encouraging first start of the season for the right-hander. The Rockies did not get to Strider on a consistent basis aside from the home run.
