Clemson shows up to beat No. 13 Boston College for ACC series win
Clemson comes up strong a little too late on the season to take down No. 13 Boston College in an ACC series.
Clemson baseball finally broke through at the right time on Sunday, using a late push to take down No. 13 Boston College 4-3 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium and lock up a much-needed series win. It had been a tough stretch for the Tigers, but this weekend felt different.
After Saturdayโs run-rule victory, Clemson now has consecutive wins for the first time in nearly a month. The series win is their first in ACC play in over a month and their first against a ranked opponent this season. The difference came in the eighth inning.
Jackson Moore got things started with a single, and the lineup followed with quality at-bats. Nate Savoie and Tryston McCladdie helped keep the rally alive before Jarren Purify came through with an RBI single that gave Clemson its first lead of the afternoon. Purify played a major role all game.
In the seventh, he crushed a solo home run, his first in two months after returning from a hand injury, to pull Clemson within one. He finished 3-for-4 and was the spark the offense needed. On the mound, Aidan Knaak added another milestone to his season.
