Young finished six shots clear of Scottie Scheffler on the Blue Monster to back up his Players Championship success

Cameron Young continued to establish himself as a PGA Tour force with a dominant six-shot victory at the Cadillac Championship. Young has been in outstanding form this season, following Players Championship success with a third-place finish at the Masters, and was untouchable on the Blue Monster at Trump National Doral. The 28-year-old closed with a four-under round of 68 to maintain his advantage over Scottie Scheffler and showcase why many feel a major breakthrough is around the corner.

His sizeable margin of victory came despite Young calling a penalty on himself on the second hole having caused his ball to move on the fairway โ€“ a hole he would par, anyway. Adam Scott shot a final round 64 to surge into the top five, while Alex Fitzpatrick finished in a tie for ninth in an encouraging start to his PGA Tour career after earning a card alongside his brother last week.

More than an inch of rain had fallen in the early hours of Sunday morning, leading to a delayed start with final-round tee times originally brought forward due to the threat of storms in Miami. But Young tamed the course and conditions for another significant success. โ€œWhen the golf course is difficult, when the conditions are difficult, that tends to make it easier for me mentally,โ€ he said.
