Ryan Reynolds put Wrexham’s rise into perspective after just missing play-off for Premier League

The Wrexham co-owner was "gutted" but still proud of a historic season.

In 2023, Wrexham AFC was a non-league club playing in the fifth-division National League. On Saturday, Wrexham was a goal away from a play-off spot for the Premier League. While Wrexham — under the ownership of actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac — became the first club in England soccer history to earn three straight promotions, the push for an unprecedented fourth straight promotion came to an end on Saturday.

Needing a win given the results elsewhere in the second-division EFL Championship, Wrexham played fifth-place Middlesbrough to a 2-2 draw. Hull's win over Norwich meant that Wrexham dropped to seventh place and out of the final play-off spot, which could've had Wrexham a few wins away from promotion to the Premier League. Understandably, Reynolds was disappointed to not see history achieved on Saturday.

But he took to Instagram and put Wrexham's meteoric rise into perspective. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ryan Reynolds (@vancityreynolds)
