Alex Ferguson hospitalised after feeling unwell at Old Trafford Sir Alex Ferguson was taken to hospital on Sunday after feeling unwell while at Old Trafford ahead of Manchester United ’s match against Liverpool . The 84-year-old was at the stadium in a watching capacity when he began to feel unwell shortly before kick-off. He was then taken to hospital as a precautionary measure, with reports suggesting there is optimism he will make a swift recovery.

Those close to the situation have stressed there is no immediate cause for alarm, and the decision to move him was taken to ensure he was properly assessed by medical staff. Ferguson remains a regular presence at Old Trafford, continuing to attend matches of the club he managed for over two decades. During his time in charge between 1986 and 2013, he transformed Manchester United into one of the dominant forces in world football, winning 13 league titles and two Champions League trophies among a host of other honours.

This is not the first health issue the Scot has faced, having previously been hospitalised in 2018 after suffering a brain haemorrhage, from which he recovered following surgery. At this stage, it is understood the latest incident is not connected to his previous condition, and club sources are hopeful he will be back home soon.
