Is Great White OK after falling at the Derby?
Great White's trainer gives an update after his fall.
We have good news on Great White, the Kentucky Derby horse who was scratched just moments before the race after flipping over and throwing his jockey. He's OK, the horse's trainer John Ennis told The Associated Press on Saturday night. “He’s perfect,” Ennis said.
“Very fresh. (The incident) took nothing out of him. ” His rider, Alex Achard, is doing well too.
Unfortunately, the incident left Achard, Ennis and Great White without a race to run after track veterinarians at Churchill Downs prevented them from running out of caution. But apparently whatever spooked Great White wasn't health related, as he's doing fine today. GREAT WHITE flipped his rider over ahead of the Kentucky Derby and has been scratched from the race.
